Statement:

My paintings are inspired by the details within the simplicities of everyday life. Ordinary, fleeting moments captured in time that create voids for which the mind escapes momentarily. Wine pouring into a glass or streaming into a decanter, or water rushing into a glass just as it approaches the rim to overflow are elements that have motivated me to paint. I am captivated by the intricate details in reflective objects and the relationship created between color, light, and the distortion of images captured in reflection.

My portraits began with my deep interest in the human form and have developed into an aspiration to capture details unique to the individual and possess significance to those who know them. I approach portraiture as I do with paintings, in a realistic manner. The posture of the body, the pieces of hair that touch the face, and the reflections caught in the eyes are characteristics that I find both intricate and revealing of the individual.
